Compared to other oranges, mandarin oranges are sweeter, smaller and easier to peel — all reasons why they make an excellent snack just as they are. They’re also popular in salads and desserts, and the peel can be zested or used whole as an ingredient. Fresh mandarins have a short shelf life, so be sure to enjoy them quickly (that shouldn’t be a problem!).
